“SAIEX” Flameproof DOL (Direct-On-Line) Starter Control Station is an electrical control device enclosed in a flameproof (explosion-proof) housing, designed for use in hazardous areas where flammable gases, vapors, or dust may be present.

It is used to directly start and stop motors safely by supplying full line voltage to the motor through a manual push button or selector switch, while ensuring that any sparks, arcs, or internal faults generated inside the enclosure do not ignite the surrounding explosive atmosphere.

How It Works

The control station consists of push buttons (START/STOP), selector switches, overload relays, and contactors housed in a robust flameproof enclosure.

1. Electrical power enters the station through Ex d cable glands.
2. Pressing the START button energizes the contactor coil, closing the main contacts and supplying full voltage to the motor.
3. Pressing the STOP button de-energizes the contactor, opening the circuit and stopping the motor.
4. The overload relay protects the motor from overcurrent or short-circuits.
5. Any arcs, sparks, or electrical faults that occur inside the station are contained within the flameproof enclosure, and the flame paths cool escaping gases, preventing ignition of the surrounding atmosphere.

Some stations include indicator lamps to show motor running status or fault conditions.
