How It Works

• The box is made of thick metal, usually cast aluminum or stainless steel, with precision-machined flame paths at the cover and entry points.
• Electrical cables enter the box via Ex d flameproof cable glands.
• Inside, terminal blocks or connectors join different circuits.
• During operation, minor arcs, sparks, or faults may occur at the terminals. The flameproof design contains any internal explosion, and hot gases are cooled while passing through the flame paths, preventing ignition of the surrounding atmosphere.
